Work issue - human being on staff lies and tries to involve me?
In August last year, I was promoted to an organization manager position, after being the receptionist for several months prior. My supervisor, who is also the "big boss", feel that I would be a good fit b/c of my experience and the relationships I've built with the staff (the department manager also serves as backup to our HR department, which is in another state). We hold a staff member, male, who is unbelievably flirtatous and seems to think himself as witty. While I am not impressed, I, close to other ladies in the office, mildly interest his immaturity (even tho he's a 60 year old man), becasue it's humorous, and usually fluffy hearted. This employee and I became "buddies" when I begin working here as the receptionist. As I usually don't make friends at work, the same rules I set for myself still apply: we do not chitchat during non-working hours, our phone conversations throughout the day are always professional, I don't know where on earth he lives and he doesn't know where I live...

Work nouns?
Is it true that in America as a black person black American specifically, you can never get a job contained by HR and that they are only given to people who are other colors single? I have also heard that in that is no need for a black person to run on trying in HRM?

Work prioritises?
why is it necessary to prioritise tasks at work?

Work problems? Am I just about to be fired?
I am a college student working part-time as an administrative assistant at my college. The work is easy: file, copying, etc. I have my own desk with a computer and Internet access. When I own time, I surf the Internet on this computer, sometimes shop online, etc. Two days ago, I was on Facebook when a coworker (a superior) came within and asked me to do some copying. I did so and left for the day... The subsequent day, the computer was unplugged and my supervisor told me that it's be having "some problems" and will be left unplugged for a while. I never notice any problems with it. Now my supervisor is acting snippy and not too warm next to me... Do you think they decided to cut stale my computer because I was using the Internet? I always get my work done first, and always stopped if more work came up. The other workers (all much older than me) also surf the Internet during their free time. Is my supervisor unhappy beside me/am I about to be fired? Or am I overanalyzing this?

Work related - stressed out?
I do admin support / PA work for several managers in an organisation. Gradually the other admin workers I work next to have dwindled down to all cut timers and more work is bein put onto me. Final straw is one person who did reception says they don't want to do it anymore they've done it for nearly 3 years and had enough, unsophisticatedly it's hard to do admin work and cover a busy reception at the same time and our executive has said she will find someone else - that someone else is me. We're all admin post profiles. Feel like this is too much pressure and bein given the rubbish jobs cos noone else wishes to do them and they're part time. Manager says cos I'm the just full time person left it'll probably be me that have to do it. Any ideas what I can do without havin to disappear as I do enjoy admin work but I don't want to be a receptionist as I feel close to it's a step back. plus I'm bein expected to do admin support and run reception at the same. Please aid x

Work related problem any push for?
i have been working for this company very soon for 9 months i originally was temporary covering this other womans living as she was on maternity, they arranged to keep me permanent because they be pleased with how iv fitted in, i love this undertaking! Any how the womans coming back on monday and im really worried, ive heard she bosses culture around tells them what to do even my boss! and also shes two faced and get people into trouble im scared because i might stir and tell her what she can do and i dont want to do that (ive got a short ill will when it comes to being ordered around or being treated unfairly) when she have a meeting to come back and discuss arangements she demanded she looked-for to be office manager i dont want to be pushed out, shes more intellegent than me and can put her point across better. (as you can relate im not that good lol) what shall i do if she comes back on monday and is a right cow. couple more points i hold been here longer than her & my 2 of my bosses think shes great! aid

Work relationships? How close? How distant?
I just read an article that once again...says to NOT reach a deal about Religion, Politics, Sex & Relationships, Money or Medical Issues... Sounds really good within theory - to keep the family you work with at a distance & not be the "TMI girl" who babbles in the region of her personal life all the time & things relatives don't want to hear or talk about... BUT I've be in both situations - I've been accuse of talking too much about my personal duration. I've been divorced twice, so I've had some relationship issues within the past that I talked almost with some people I considered friends at work. I've never gotten too "indepth" in the order of sex or things that could be considered tacky..I've never dated anyone at work - but I was told a few times that I enjoy a TMI problem. SO when I changed jobs, I kept it strictly professional - and it made me appear distant & cold! I was cordial and chatted but when the conversation shifted to personal cast-offs, I would just get hindmost to work! I WAS FIRED for "being impersonal and not getting along with others"! OK - somebody explain to me...what's the middle ground

Work rota?

Work situation.?
I am one of two receptionists in an office explicitly very unprofessional. The other receptionist is pregnant, is absent more habitually than she is actually in. On days that she does make a contribution the company the pleasure of showing up she is extremely late -- two sometimes three hours late. She negotiations LOUDLY on her cell phone ALL DAY cursing and carrying on with her boyfriend or her cousin and this behavior is not only tolerated, it is permitted. I on the other hand show up for work every day and show up on the dot (if not early.) On days when she is not in I man the desk by myself, recurrently times do not get a lunch break or relieved for the restroom, and have to work two hours latter to cover her shift. I've spoken with my supervisor and my supervisor's supervisor about the situation of providing modest coverage at the desk on days when she's not here or comes in late. Since speaking next to them I somehow feel like my commission is in jeopardy. Am I overreacting?
