I handed my notice contained by on 1st Sept and finish on Thursday 25th as I'd already booked Friday 26th off as holiday. Now my boss is saying I may own to work additional days to make up for man off ill. He say I will still get sick pay but may own to make the time up-is this correct? No he can't. There are arrangements in place to pay for sick days and explicitly part of your employment contract, as is your notice time of year, unless there's something in your employment terms that your boss can point to that states specifically in the order of sick days in a notice time of year.

I would ask for the clarification of the requirement, in writing, so that you have evidence. That should force his paw. Otherwise just say zilch, check with CAB/Lawyer/HR and on 25th say "See you Monday" and phone contained by sick on 29th.

Your boss's attitude sounds importantly irregular. It's legitimate for him to question if you're really ailing. He can ask probing questions to see if you're doing a sickie but he can't say, "You've be ill on this day, so you must work that daylight to make the time up."

Make sure you have a doctors note to cover the days of your bug. If you have given the requisite amount of notice to vacate then your employer cannot make you work further days.
