I use to be attending school to obtain a BS within Digital Media. I recently left the academy because of the cost of tuition and deciding the major within wasn't right for me. I'm currently at community college getting a degree in medical bureau technology and finding the classes extremely boring. I'm engaged and to be married in 2009, my husband will own still a year left for his degree so we'll be living contained by an apartment while he finishes. I will need to get a livelihood immediately so I don't have time to exchange my major right now since I own a short time frame to finish my degree while working leisure.

Though, after my fiancé finishes his degree I'm considering going back to institution for web page design. Though, I've been told past depending on how good your portfolio is you can be a web page designer minus a degree. I'm still assuming it's very central to have a degree no business what you're doing. For you that are already web page designers how important is it to own an AS or BS?

Unless you are trying to get a job beside a company that requires a bachelor's degree, I wouldn't really say it's called for. In fact, with most computer related field I think it's more important to know what you're doing than to hold the degree.

If you have the know how, you could try getting a living at a web design firm, or you could do it freelance.

What might actually variety you more marketable than a degree is certification surrounded by the relevant languages/programs. I don't know what certifications would apply specifically to web design, but you may already know enough to go past some of the exams.

NO - I own a web design company and all of my best staff hold no qualifications, just long powerfully earned experience from home, books and on job. I started as a freelancer 10 years ago and still enjoy no qualifications in network design, only business qualifications. Get reading... ;o)

Been a web designer is much more than lately a degree. You have to know how to program 99% of the people with degree can't program sad but true, all that money to refuse. If you can program and you have a great imagination you can start your own web nouns business. Besides you need a team, that's how pattern development works, it takes months and sometimes years to find something to work right, but once is done is done. Besides most of the things you need are already created for you and can easily buy them. Seach for the following PHP, PERL, MICROSOFT ASP, Java, CGI, among C, Visual adjectives, Data bases, is basically what you involve to develop for the web. There is Macromedia Studio that has adjectives the tools you need, is not cheap but is profesional stuff. Flash is the bigest and best thing to use because you can implement adjectives the above technologies to make amazing work.
